About the sport
The traditional sport of Zurkaneh is a strong house, a ritual ambition, a spirit of generosity chivalry, patriotic and a combination of sport, art and literary.
This traditional sport has played a major role in the strength and physical and mental development of the people in its millennial histry.
Zurkaneh sports is a cultural and spiritual heritage and a good source for the development of public sports.
The purpose of this marital artist is to train warriors to fight foreign invaders.
History of Zurkaneh
Originally used to train worriors.
Wushu
Originating in China over 4,000 years ago, wushu is time-honoured, rich in content and diversified in forms. In its age long process of development “wushu”, “gongfu”,”Kungu fu”.
Wushu, or Kung is a hard soft and complete martial art, as well as a full-contact sport it has a long history in reference to Chinese martial arts.
Objectives of the Federation
- To promote Zurkaneh sport in different areas of Uganda like schools, universities, institutions, etc.
- To have a national team that will represnt internationally. Ever since we started, the federation has managed to attend and represent the nation.
- Since that year, we managed to attend the Kish Island Cup which was held in 2007.
- In 2008 we attended Tafisa World Sports for all games in South Korea.
- Between 25th - 29th, 2010, we attended the 1st European Championship in Minsk, Belarus.
- In 2009, we attended a seminar in Iran.
